The DR7808Q is a multi-channel gate driver with eight integrated half-bridges that can drive up to 16 external N-channel MOSFETs. It can be configured as multiple H-bridge drivers to simultaneously drive several DC brushed motors in automotive applications or as multiple high-side switches to drive different types of loads. This makes it highly suitable for applications with multiple motors or multiple loads, such as automotive electric seats, electric doors, electric tailgates, and zonal control.
The DR7808Q supports a 24-bit Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) for chip configuration and direct control of the half-bridges. In addition to the SPI interface, the DR7808Q also supports three PWM inputs to control the eight half-bridges. The device integrates two high common-mode, high-speed, high-precision current-sense amplifiers (CSAs) that can provide motor stall protection and motor ripple sampling. Combined with the unique PWM Rejection technology of the CSA, it can be used to implement a ripple-based anti-pinch solution without Hall sensors.
The eight half-bridges of the DR7808Q employ intelligent gate drive technology, which can adjust the driving capability according to the parameters of the external NMOSFETs and application requirements. The driving capability is software-configurable in eight levels, with a maximum driving capability of up to 96 mA. All half-bridges support intelligent adaptive switching speed regulation. Moreover, the DR7808Q protects the upper and lower switches based on handshake logic to effectively prevent shoot-through.
The DR7808Q also provides extensive protection and diagnostic functions, such as supply voltage monitoring, overcurrent protection, charge pump voltage monitoring, temperature warning, over-temperature shutdown, watchdog, and load open/short circuit diagnosis. Each gate driver of the DR7808Q can independently monitor the drain-source voltage of its external MOSFET to detect application faults.
