  • The DR704Q is an intelligent single H-bridge driver designed for automotive applications, capable of driving four external N-channel MOSFETs simultaneously to power bidirectional brushed DC motors. The DR704Q supports an SPI configuration interface and offers PH/EN, independent H-Bridge, or standard PWM interfaces to achieve various motor controls such as forward rotation, reverse rotation, slow decay, and coasting. Additionally, the integrated charge pump architecture supports 100% duty cycle output and can also be used to drive external battery reverse protection switches. The DR704Q can also drive multiple DC motors in an economical and efficient manner through its independent half-bridge mode.

The DR704Q integrates a current-sense amplifier and includes a function for regulating winding current using fixed off-time PWM current chopping. This current-sense amplifier supports bidirectional current sensing, and its measurement range can be configured through four optional common-mode points. The device also integrates an intelligent gate driver module to protect external FETs without the need for additional external gate components such as resistors and Zener diodes.

The DR704Q combines protection features and gate drive configurability to simplify design and elevate the intelligence of motor systems to a new level. For example, configurable dead-time optimization prevents shoot-through, provides active/passive pull-down, and protects against dV/dt gate turn-on; programmable slew rate control offers flexibility in reducing EMI. The DR704Q also various integrates protection functions—UVLO, OVLO, CPUV, OCP, TSD, GDF, watchdog timer, etc. In terms of functional safety, the DR704Q provides offline load diagnostics to detect short circuits to the power supply, ground, and open-circuit conditions, helping the system meet functional safety requirements. Moreover, the charge pump of the DR704Q not only supports spread spectrum but also offers four adjustable options for the center frequency of the spread spectrum, assisting customers in passing EMC tests.

The DR704Q device is available in a QFN-32 package.
