The AFE944 is a multi-channel simultaneous sampling 24-bit Δ-Σ Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) series, featuring a built-in Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA), internal reference, and onboard oscillator. The AFE94x encompasses all the essential functions typically required for medical electrocardiogram (ECG) and electroencephalogram (EEG) applications. With its high level of integration and exceptional performance, the AFE94x enables the development of scalable medical instrument systems with significantly reduced size, power consumption, and overall cost. Each channel of the AFE94x includes a flexible input multiplexer (mux) that can independently connect to internally generated signals for testing, temperature monitoring, and lead-off detection. Additionally, any configured input channel can be used to generate the Right Leg Drive (RLD) output signal. The AFE94x operates at data rates up to 64 kSPS, enabling software-based pace detection. Lead-off detection is facilitated internally through pull-up/pull-down resistors or excitation current/current sources. Three integrated amplifiers are used to generate the Wilson Central Terminal (WCT) required for standard 12-lead ECG. Multiple AFE94x devices can be connected in a daisy-chain configuration in high-channel-count systems. Package options include a QFP-64 package and a compact 8mm × 8mm, 64-ball BGA. The AFE94x is rated for a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
