  • The AFE928 is a multi-channel simultaneous sampling 24-bit Δ-Σ analog-to-digital converter (ADC) series, featuring a built-in programmable gain amplifier (PGA), an internal reference, and an on-board oscillator. The AFE92x(1) encompasses all the functionalities typically required in medical electrocardiogram (ECG) applications. With its high level of integration and exceptional performance, the AFE92x facilitates the development of scalable medical instrument systems with significantly reduced size, power consumption, and overall cost. Each channel of the AFE92x is equipped with a flexible input multiplexer (mux) capable of independently connecting to internally generated signals for testing, temperature, and lead-off detection. Furthermore, any configuration of the input channels can be utilized to generate the right leg drive (RLD) output signal. Lead-off detection can be achieved within the device through pull-up/pull-down resistors or excitation current sinks/sources. Three integrated amplifiers are employed to produce the Wilson Central Terminal (WCT) necessary for standard 12-lead ECGs. Multiple AFE92x devices can be daisy-chained in high-channel count systems. Package options include QFP-64 and a compact 8mm × 8mm, 64-ball BGA. The BGA variant is rated for industrial temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C.
