  • The AFE906 is a multi-channel, simultaneously sampling 24-bit Δ-Σ analog-to-digital converter (ADC) series, featuring an integrated programmable gain amplifier (PGA), internal reference, and on-board oscillator. The AFE90x (1) encompasses all functionalities typically required in medical electrocardiogram (ECG) applications. With its high integration and exceptional performance, the AFE90x enables the development of scalable medical instrument systems with significantly reduced size, power consumption, and overall cost. Each channel of the AFE90x is equipped with a flexible input multiplexer (mux) that can independently connect to internally generated signals for testing, temperature sensing, and lead-off detection. Furthermore, any input channel configuration can be used to generate the right leg drive (RLD) output signal. Lead-off detection can be implemented internally through pull-up/pull-down resistors or excitation current sink/source. Three integrated amplifiers are utilized to create the Wilson central terminal (WCT) necessary for standard 12-lead ECG. Multiple AFE90x devices can be cascaded in a daisy-chain configuration for high-channel-count systems. Packaging options include QFP-64 and a compact 8mm × 8mm, 64-ball BGA. The BGA version is rated for industrial temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C.
